Taiwan attends this year's WHO General Assembly? … The Chinese side “disagrees”
A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Zhao Lijian, said at a regular press conference on May 9th that they "disagrees" with Taiwan's request to attend this year's World Health Organization (WHO) General Assembly.

Spokesperson Zhao said, "The participation of the China-Taiwan region in the activities of international organizations, including WHO, must be done under the principle of'One China'. That is UN General Assembly No. 2758 (Albania) and WHO. This is the principle confirmed by the resolution of General Assembly No. 25.1."

On top of that, "The Democratic Party has been sticking to the position of" Taiwan independence "after regaining power. It is Taiwan that they do not firmly admit the" 92 consensus "that confirmed the principle of 'One China'. It makes it impossible to lay the political foundation for the district's participation in the WHO General Assembly."

Spokesman Zhao added, "In order to protect national sovereignty and territory, and to uphold the solemnity and authority of the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly and WHO General Assembly, China cannot agree to the attendance of the Taiwan region at the WHO General Assembly this year. We call on the DPP authorities to stop the political use of the corona disaster," he said.
