Hurry the work process without the concrete solidifying, the collapse of the outer wall of the Korean condominium
In Gwangju, South Korea, a work diary was found that was the basis for allegations of concrete "slow curing" in connection with the collapse of the outer wall of a newly built condominium undertaken by Hyundai Industrial Development.

On the 15th, the Gwangju Jeollanam-do Regional Headquarters of the Construction Workers' Union released the concrete work diary of the condominium.

According to the work diary, the floor concrete on the 36th floor was placed 10 days after the floor concrete on the 35th floor was placed on November 23, last year, which was the time of the work on the upper floors of that condominium.

The 37th floor was 7 days later and the 38th floor was 6 days later. The ceiling on the 38th floor (floor on the PIT floor) has completed the casting process eight days later. Eleven days after that, the collapse accident occurred while placing the concrete on the 39th floor.

It has been analyzed that such an accident occurred by forcibly forcing the construction work without ensuring the concrete curing period (work to protect the concrete until the hardening action progresses sufficiently after placing the concrete).

The construction union pointed out that "the cause of the collapse accident is thought to be a combination of poor construction due to unreasonable work progress and problems with the concrete curing."

It also emphasized that "as a fundamental measure, we should thoroughly investigate the illegal multi-story subcontracting structure and establish a bidding system that can secure an appropriate construction cost and an appropriate construction period."

The outer wall collapse accident occurred at around 3:47 pm on the 11th of this month, while concrete was being placed on the roof of the 39th floor of a new condominium construction site in Gwangju City, and the outer walls and structures from the 23rd floor to the 38th floor collapsed. Six workers have been missing in the accident. One was found dead on the 14th, and rescue operations are currently underway for the remaining five.
