North Korean hackers successfully 'hacked' Russian missile company
"A North Korean hacker group successfully hacked through the firewall of a major Russian missile development company," Reuters reported on August 7th (local time).

According to Reuters, after analyzing technical evidence with security experts on the same day, a cyber intelligence team associated with the North Korean government called Scarcraft and Lazarus was suspected of operating the NPO Masinostroyeniya, a Russian defence industry company. "We have learned that they have secretly installed a backdoor that can infiltrate the system." It is reported that the department that was hacked was the rocket design department under Masinostroyenya.

Masinostroyeniya, a missile development company founded in 1944, recently developed a hypersonic missile 'Zircon' that can fly more than 1,000 kilometers at a speed of about 11,000 kilometers per hour.

According to Reuters, North Korean hackers broke into the company's systems at the end of 2021, but the facts came to light in May of the following year.

Experts say, "Even if North Korean hackers stole information about Masinostroyenya's latest weapons, they would not be able to make the same weapon immediately, but they would be able to obtain considerable results just by using it as a reference for weapon development."
