2 teachers from the same elementary school commit 'suicide' in 6 months ... school treats as "simple crash death" = Korea
Two years ago, two fifth-grade teachers at an elementary school in Gyeonggi-do committed suicide within a six-month period. The school treated it as a simple crash death, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education was completely unaware of this fact.

On August 7th, MBC reported on the late Kim Eun-ji and Lee Young-soon, who were in the same grade at the same school, passed away in June and December 2021, respectively.

The two were sent to this school at the ages of 23 and 25 after graduating from the University of Education in 2016. After that, in 2021, the 4th and 5th year, they were in charge of the 5-3 and 5-4 classes.

One month after the announcement, Kim was diagnosed with depression. The parents said, "She looked to be shocked to see the children slapping each other on the cheeks and fighting. After going home and sitting on her bed and said, 'No, no, no.'"

Afterwards, Kim submitted a letter of resignation, but the school stopped her, and instead of being the homeroom teacher of the class, she was appointed as a full-time music teacher. However, a year later, she was in charge of the class again.

Kim's father said, "Even after leaving work, she still received phone calls from parents. My daughter didn't know what to do and said, 'I'm sorry,' and was afraid to answer the phone."

Despite psychiatric treatment and several vacations, she committed suicide four months after teaching a 5th grade class.

Lee, who died in December of the same year, had an accident in the class he was teaching in his first year. The bereaved family claims that a child injured his hand while cutting a plastic bottle, and that his parents were concerned about the need for plastic surgery.

Lee enlisted in the military the following year, but the guardians continued to demand compensation. It is said that the school called the military and asked him to either get the parents to stop calling or pay the medical bills to solve the problem.

In 2021, when he was in charge of class 4 of the 5th grade, a child in the class was absent for a long time, and it was also found that he exchanged more than 400 mobile phone messages with their guardian.

In December of the same year, Lee took his own life after posting on his social media account, "My children are ordinary, but I don't think I'm suited for this job. Every day is hard. I'm sorry."

MBC reported that the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education was unaware of the fact that the two first-time students committed suicide at the same school six months apart.

The cause of the two deaths reported by the school to the Ministry of Education was a "simple crash."
