An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred in Dezhou, Shandong Province, China, in the early hours of August 6th.
The earthquake struck at 2:33 am on the 6th (local time) in Pingyuan County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province (37.16 degrees north latitude, 116.34 degrees east longitude), with an epicenter depth of 10 kilometers. According to the Shandong Provincial Emergency Management Agency, 59 aftershocks were recorded by 8 a.m. on Saturday, including one with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher. After the earthquake, provincial authorities initiated provincial level 3 emergency measures and started relief work. By the morning of the same day, a total of 21 injuries were reported, including 20 in Dezhou and one in neighboring Liaocheng. In addition, 126 houses have been confirmed to have collapsed.
