The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced at 6:00 pm on August 10th that 56 cases of damage to public facilities and 103 cases of damage to private properties occurred in the typhoon response status report.
Damage to public facilities included 51 cases of road flooding/collapse, 3 cases of landslides, 1 case of partial collapse of reservoir embankment, and 1 case of bridge subsidence. For private facilities, 11 flooded houses, 2 damaged roofs, 4 flooded shopping malls, 3 road floods, 2 road landslides, 7 landslides, and 74 others.
In addition, 40,358 households lost power, and 94.2% have been restored to date. The number of temporary evacuees increased to 14,153 in 108 cities, counties and wards in 16 cities and provinces. Gyeongsangbuk-do had the most at 9,208, followed by Gyeongsangnam-do at 2,960, Jeollanam-do at 975, and Busan at 350.
There was also one death and one missing person. However, the direct cause was not confirmed as a typhoon, and it is not included in the tally by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
A man who died after being found in cardiac arrest in Daegu Gunwi County this afternoon was counted as a drowning accident. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. In Dalseong County, Daegu, a person who crashed into a river while riding an electric wheelchair and went missing was counted as a safety accident.
After a detailed investigation of the cause of the accident, if the result is a natural disaster, it may be counted as a human loss.
As the typhoon moves northward, the number of controlled areas is increasing. 620 roads, 284 parking lots, 598 riversides and 198 coastal areas were controlled in advance.
355 flights from 14 airports have been cancelled. 154 passenger ships on 102 routes and 92 ferries on 76 routes were also suspended. As for railways, 161 high-speed trains, 251 regular trains, and 44 electric trains have been suspended since the first trains of the day.
Currently, Typhoon No. 6 is moving northward at a speed of 29 kilometers per hour. Typhoon No. 6 is expected to cross the inland region and move to North Korea on August 11th.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is scheduled to hold a meeting at 9:00 pm that day to discuss countermeasures against the typhoon.
