Sinlim-dong street murderer Cho Seong suspected to be a psychopath
In July, Cho Seong (33), who committed a 'street murder' in the downtown area of Sinrim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, was classified as a psychopath after a diagnostic test.

On August 4th, a National Police Agency official said, "We have confirmed that he meets the criteria for a psychopath. However, the specific figures may change in the future."

Police conducted a psychopathic diagnostic test (PCL-R) on Cho on July 26th. The psychopath diagnostic test is a test that indexes psychopath personality traits such as callousness, impulsivity, lack of empathy, and irresponsibility. It consists of a total of 20 questions, with a perfect score of 40 points.

In South Korea, people with a score above 25 are usually classified as psychopaths.

Earlier, experts had concluded that Cho's psychopathic tendencies could be seen just by looking at Cho's methods of committing crimes and statements made public.

During the police interrogation, Cho said, "I've had a desire to kill for a long time. It seems that I have psychopathic tendencies."

Cho is suspected of stabbing a man in his 20s about 10 times with a weapon at a shopping street near Sinlim Station on Subway Line 2 on July 21st, and then wielding the weapon to three men in their 30s one after another in an alley.

It turned out that none of the victims knew Cho. Cho was detained and transferred to the prosecution on the 28th.
