According to the South Korean presidential office and the government on August 4th, the presidential office is discussing with the Korea Tourism Organization a plan to sell various souvenirs including the symbol of President Yoon or the presidential office.
It was reported that the presidential office will consider selling the president's watch officially because it has been a problem that the president's watches have been traded for hundreds of thousands of won on second-hand trading platforms such as "Tanggun Market". The president's office and related departments aim to complete related work and start sales by the mid-autumn celebration of this year.
Potential sales locations include Yongsan Children's Garden, one of the symbols of the Yongsan Era, and Cheongwadae Sarangchae. In addition, a plan to set up a 'pop-up store' in some areas and sell products is also being considered. Proceeds from the sale of products are planned to be returned to society through donations.
An official from the presidential office said, "We have been receiving a series of inquiries about souvenirs such as the president's watch, and we have been discussing with the department in charge about how to sell them officially. But it's all made up."
Products with the president's symbol were in high demand, especially among supporters, but there were no official places to sell them, and so far they have been traded through the second-hand market. There were also cases where the sales price rose to hundreds of thousands of won due to the secret trade, which became a problem. So far, the presidential office has presented President Yoon's watches and other items as souvenirs to domestic and foreign guests who have visited the presidential office.
