China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, famous "Yulong River" boatman beats tourists... Administrative detention = China

On the Yulong River in Guilin City, Guangxi, China, which is famous for enjoying river rafting, trouble occurred between the boatmen rowing the rafts and tourists. One of the beaten tourists was injured.

Around 3:20 pm (local time) on July 18th (local time), a boatman and several tourists got into an argument at the raft platform in the Yulong River tourist area in Yangshuo County, Guilin City. The incident is believed to have started when tourists played in the water near the raft boarding area and blocked the entry and exit of the raft.

During the quarrel, several boatmen hit a tourist with a paddle, injuring one of them. The injured tourist was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Three male boatmen are currently being sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention and fines by the police for assault charges. The county authorities also suspended key executives and managers of Yulonghe Company.

The prefectural government said, "We will strengthen the supervision and management of the tourism industry throughout the prefecture and improve the quality of tourism services," and apologized to the injured tourists.
