Possibility of “life imprisonment” … Chinese couple tortured and killed BJ Ayeon
A Chinese couple who murdered a Korean woman in her 30s, BJ (Broadcasting Jockey) Ayeon, in Cambodia has been charged with "murder with torture."

Cambodian police yesterday charged a Chinese couple in their 30s with the murder of Ayong, who was found in the body, AFP news agency reported on Thursday.

The AFP news agency reported that the couple could face life imprisonment if convicted. However, no specific details about the alleged torture were given.

Before this, on the 6th, the body of a Korean woman wrapped in a red cloth was found in a village in Kandal province near Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. It was revealed that the woman was Ayeon, who was traveling in Cambodia. As a result of the local police collecting fingerprints and carrying out a forensic investigation, it was confirmed that a Chinese national was involved in the incident. A Chinese couple who run a private hospital was arrested on suspicion of abandoning the body.

Ayeon arrived in Cambodia on the 2nd. Two days later, she was put on a drip or a serum injection at a Chinese-run hospital, and her condition is believed to have taken a sudden turn for the worse. The Chinese couple told the police, "On the 4th of this month, a woman visited the hospital we run, and while she was being treated, she suddenly had a seizure and died." The Chinese couple moved Ayeon's body to another location and abandoned it.

Some speculated that Ayeon had been assaulted because her face was so swollen.

Cambodian police believe an autopsy is necessary to find out the exact cause of death, but the bereaved family has shown their intention to object. Police are carefully investigating whether Ayeon was injured before her death or was damaged during the abandonment process.
