PM's Office "starting to re-equip inspection and alarm systems" with disaster message that caused great panic in Seoul
Amidst the growing controversy over the alert emergency disaster message related to the North Korean flying object, the Prime Minister's Office and the State Coordination Office are promoting the truth and re-equipping the alert and warning system.

According to a government official on June 1st, the disaster messages are being handled mainly by the National Affairs Coordination Office, the Office of Public Service Administration, and the Office of Safety and Environment Policy.

It was reported that the Public Service Administration Office, whose main business is inspection, will conduct an investigation into Seoul's Ministry of Public Administration and Safety to find out the cause of the "false alarm" situation. They are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the decree and the dispatch of emergency messages to the city of Seoul, and jointly review the responsibilities of the Ministry of Government Security.

After ascertaining the truth, it is expected that the safety and environment policy office will take the lead in redeveloping the warning system.

In addition to improving the disaster warning system of local governments and the Ministry of Public Administration and Safety, discussions are also expected to include providing effective disaster response information. It has been pointed out that the disaster message sent by the city of Seoul caused confusion because it did not include evacuation sites and methods.
