In the morning of the same day, the Security Office reported to President Yoon Seo-gyul on the matter in real-time, and the Security Situation Review Council and Emergency National Security Council (NSC) Standing Committee were presided over by Director of the Security Office Cho Tae Yeon. He revealed that he held a meeting and discussed a response plan after receiving a status report from the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
"Regardless of whether or not it was successful, this launch is a serious violation of UN Security Council resolutions and a serious provocation that threatens the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and the international community," the NSC standing members said.
The attendees also said they would continue to 'closely monitor' the possibility of additional North Korean launches, and said they would maintain cooperation with allies and friendship countries.
