G7 leaders support denuclearization of Korean Peninsula
While the G7 summit was being held in Hiroshima, the U.S. White House said, "G7 leaders support the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and have agreed to set the approach to China as 'de-risking'."

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on May 20th that the G7 leaders gathered in Hiroshima agreed to support the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, according to Reuters, AP, AFP and other sources.

The day before, the G7 called for North Korea to refrain from nuclear tests and launches using ballistic missile technology through the statement of the G7 Leaders' Hiroshima Vision on Nuclear Disarmament. The G7 leaders also stressed through the statement that "a world free of nuclear weapons cannot be achieved without nuclear non-proliferation."

"G7 leaders will also issue a statement referencing a joint approach to China," Sullivan said. He continued, "We are planning to issue a statement that we will approach China with the aim of 'de-risk' (removal of danger) rather than 'decoupling' (exclusion from the supply chain), and here we will protect sensitive technology, including foreign investment policies. It will include the content to be done."

"The joint statement will make reference to the fact that while countries have independent relationships and responses, we are united on common elements."
